Annette, thank you so much! I looked up Cecil Brunner and I think that might be the very one. In my (admittedly foggy!) memory, the roses look more like tea roses - maybe I'm only remembering the bud stage.

Your picture reminded me why I want to plant larkspur. My goodness, that is a stunning color! I had decided that I couldn't plant larkspur because of the toxicity, but maybe I could poke out a spot in the bare front yard to put them. (sheesh.... I can't even manage the beds I have and here I am thinking about starting new ones... )

mamajack, I'm happy to see the temperatures drop a bit, too. Last week, there were two mornings that brought a hint of cool and today, there was a breeze while I was out watching everything wake up, so there's hope! I think it's usually warmer out your way than it is here, isn't it? We may be moving to Greenville in the next year, so I hope I'm wrong on that count! ;)

I love those silly pet pictures. A good friend of mine (85 years old!) sends me scads of cute pictures and jokes by email. Not as many this time of year because like us, she's out working in her yard. She has an average new subdivision type of backyard - small - but when you step into the gate, you think you're in a botanical garden. She has people to help her with the heavy stuff and anything that needs a ladder like pruning the trees, but she tends to all the rest of it by herself.

Have a great day!
