maozamom wrote: Lynn- drop me a d-mail. I'll have plenty of cuttings from my angel trumpets and would be pleased to share some for postage. I have 7 older plants and 11 that I started from cutting this year and I don't have enough room to keep them all. After a frost kills the canna leaves and stalks I dig them up and keep the tubers in the basement over the winter. This is a very tough variety and I never lose any of them. The cator bean came from last years piggy swap. They're as easy to grow as the sunflowers with the added advantage of not being eaten by the deer. The deer have eaten almost all the tithonia. I live around the corner and down a block from this bed, but have never had deer in my yard. I was quite surprised to find that they were a problem. It's not as if they're hungry or anything. This is dairy country and there's plenty for them to eat in the fields just out of town. Next year I hope to replace all the hosta and most of the ditch lilies. But over all I'm quite pleased with what I was able to do with a couple of strong backs and no money. I'm picking thistle every couple of day and although it's not as big a problem as it was I'd love to hear any ideas to get rid of this nasty weed. mao Brugmansia Valley Peach |
