What a funny image of the Heron. GP, I can never get over how large the Anhinga's are in flight. Good inflight shot. My sister lives in Canberra, on the other side of the country to where I am. We share some birds in common, but we certainly don't have these gorgeous Gang Gang Cockatoos. She said that usually she'll see one or two, but a dozen turned up on her back deck yesterday morning and she quickly took a couple of shots with her mobile phone. Check out the deck railing where it's been chewed at, probably by Sulphur-crested Cockatoos that frequent her place. The black and white bird along towards the rear of the railing is an Australian Magpie (probably a Black-backed). The magpies we have in Western Australia are named Western Magpies - the adult male has a white "saddle" back and the female has a mostly black back. At the present time, these gorgeous songsters are singing all night long in the lead up to the breeding season. |
