if you have room for one or two you have room for 3 or 4. consider group 3's and consider two each, of two kinds.
when you plant perennials, clematis is the only type people do not buy several of. they buy one of each variety and expect fast coverage.
if you loved day lillies or phlox and wanted to make a display you would not start with one plant. you would start with 3 or 5 and then let maturity make it even better.
we expect a lot of the amazing clem root. it gives a lot, but to have a nice display in the first few years, plant the largest roots you can afford, and put several of them in.

from some of the photos i have seen lately of princess diana, and comments here i would strongly think about a combo of that with prince charles or perle de azure, which may establish more quickly than prince charles. prince charles seems to bloom lower (all thru the vine for me vs perle de azure)
this is prince charles and etoile rose, very similar to diana. then i will post perle de azure so can see what i am talking about in the bloom coverage. this price charles is one plant but it is 8 yrs old. the etoile rose is also in ground for me for quite a few years..
