The plan is to more slope the sides, and to place flat flag stones along the center bottom length. The pond bottom is wide and flat, which I think was most of the trouble. I will also look into the release valve, looks like a simple, excellent precaution .... that is an excellent link direct. Thanks! (FYI where I am living was wetlands before development .... mostly swampy)

The part I most regret is that I originally planned on moving them inside for this winter, as the liner this past year was the "trial run" to see if I liked the shape, etc. and to find any flaws before I make the big, permanent liner plunge.
