SusanLouise- you might be able to crop that shepards hook right out of your Redbellied WP picture. Very nice! We have seen him a lot here. If you get the right angle you can see some red coloring way down under its belly. I guess they were desperate for a name once RedHeaded was taken.

Hi Sharon--Didn't mean to steal your flycatcher! I have fun watching this guy's habits around my garden. And that trademark ~wheep~ call- my hubby just goes yeah of course sure when I tried to point it out to him. (Hidden message- half the birds I hear do the same thing)

Well here's my heron story. I had just come home from the store, parked in the drive between me and the neighbor with the pool, and got out, when from behind and felt like only a foot over my head, comes this almost-not there swoooosh. This GB heron (?) lands on the neighbor's fence twenty feet from me. So I'm standing right next to my van which I figure is sort of concealing me so I stay and look.

It just sits there till I'm getting tired of watching! I go in and get the camera. During the event it moved to the peak on the roof next door. so this is the best I could do with the sun . But I was glad to have it
