Same things are happening here in Virginia. This is a Bradford pear. It's an ornimental so the little pears only get about the size of a crabapple. Until yesterday it was loaded with fruit but the mockingbirds and starlings have been working it and have pretty well cleaned it off. This morning a couple of gold finches and this female blue bird were out there trying to find just one or two more. The fruit is just a little too big for the bluebird so she would knock it to the ground, then fly down and eat it.
