Sorry knip, cross posted. Today was the first time in about the last week or so that I have seen him bring a fish without a head. I think in the early stages he removes the head because it isn't as easy to get into as the fleshy part of the body and whilst the chick is learning what to do with a fish, it's better to have a stationary object rather than one that's jumping around all over the place.
