Even if you don't see it, you can release them when the sun comes out, and take pictures. They will climb on your finger easily. They will emerge usually very early in the morning, and must hang and allow the wings to dry. They won't take nectar for several hours, so if the weather is bad you can wait until the next morning. You might bring in some zinnias, or milkweed blooms if you have some not frozen. Mine are gone now. :-( Here is what the chrysalis will look like the morning they emerge, if up late the night before you may see it darken then.
