I have a few trees and shrubs planted with varying success, a Western Red Cedar, red leaved crab apple, and Laurel Oak, trees have outgrown the surrounding grass. The shrubs: cotoneaster, evergreen rose, vine maple, Mahonia and others are overcome by tall grass, which I did not manage to cut back this year. Eventually, I would like a tree and shrub border that separates our place from the neighbor's driveway, provides habitat for birds, and looks good when viewed from the kitchen and dining room windows. That is in my future dreams anyway. |
