Yeppers, this Cat is in an area that is as close to butterfly and birding heaven as one can get and still stay in the United States :o)

We had our annual butterfly festival this past weekend. Thursday was drizzly and cloudy and even at that we had 54 species in one garden. The weather cleared up the following days and one man had 95 species on Saturday just from the NABA park!!! That's more than some states (snicker snicker). :o)

I'd really like to see all 320 species that have been recorded here but am slowing making my life list. I started using the 'Butterflies I've Seen Web Site" link on the main NABA website and have been adding butterflies as the days and years go by.

This is one called a Silver Emperor - have been photographing this one for a couple of years trying to get that "blue" sheen that shows up on the wings when the sun hits it just right :o) The underside gets a "silver" sheen when the sun hits it just right too...hence the name, I guess.
