Everything I've read indicates sun or "medium shade" and it's also reported that it does not perform well in extremely dry soil. I'm not sure what we're doing right, but considering the darned thing isn't even supposed to be hardy here, NEVER gets watered and is still alive after 5 years (last two years of which have been severe drought) you might just have a chance!
