Thanks, All!

Sparks is quite the charmer!!! Butters, however, was initially an "iffy" (initially thought plain) choice, but now, as a part of the school, is most stunning. Both Butters and Sparks were purchased at the same time. When I was getting these two, BeaHive had just discovered her "yellow princess" was gone, and when I saw Butters with her butterfly wings spread, I thought she looked like an angelic version of Bea's Princess floating in the waters. No resisting Butters. We sometimes call her ButterBea.

However, Big Blue is the "first" and I think will always have that "special spot." Blue's left side is more photogenic than the right side, I think. Also, Token II has been a pleasant surprise.

When choosing Token, II (and Big Blue), I was thinking of MotherMole's troubles with the herons and decided I wasn't going to get a bunch of brightly colored koi that the heron would easily spot. Token was the first fish chosen for the pond, and I have to tell you ..... initially, I was thinking he was drab (color-wise), but WOW, when the sun gets on him, he is richly colored in shades of brilliant emerald greens and metallic golds. Beautiful. I thought he was just black when I saw him at the store, but now know that he is really an olive color.

The food I have been feeding them is purchased locally as the brand name of the nursery, "Arbordale." I got it because it claimed to be an immune and color booster .... what ever that means!! I ran out of that, and since Arbordale is a good 20 minute drive away, I have been using a "big box bought" koi food that boasts color boosting the past couple weeks.

I also have (3) solid orange koi (one shown above with patch of sumi on head) for whom I am still pondering names. My favorite one being a very pastel, metallic (almost peachy) orange. The tips of her fins seem to be painted in ivory or porcelain.

Hmmmm, Tequila Sunrise ........ Mom and Dad were going to initially name me Seagram because I was born 7 pounds, 7 ounces. Tequi (Tiki) .......... interesting.

Here's a more top view of Sparks.

Thanks for all of your encouragement, too!
