I believe in the Philippines he thought it looked interesting and took it back to his wife who lived in south America. Their it was moved around a few collectors and friends. Nancy saw a picture of the plant and went down to get it. Dr Croat considered it a mutation and you can usually tell by the odd leaf coloration as well as odd false flowers which are commonly thrown out. These false flowers will have a spath but no spadix. I have a copy of his write up in my library somewhere LOL. It is a great plant but unfortunately for me I have a bit of trouble getting it to from nice colorful leaves. In most cases it tends to get large but rarely makes the well known white veins as seen in some. The best displays I have seen have been in wet situations in tropical landscapes. |
