Your Royal palm obviously knew his place and wasn't interested in pushing the issue. Out of my 6 toms this year, 1 of them was a complete pacifist,2 were somewhat interested in fighting,2 of them were definitely fighters, and 1 was the worst I've ever seen. He and I did not get along. You might get by with putting toms together but a lot more gets done if you don't. They need to save their energy for the girls.
Speaking of buttercups... has anyone ever had an aggressive rooster? I have 3 here and they are the most non-confrontational birds I have ever seen. They carry on noise wise but never come near us.
