Last year when we were hiking more (out of shape now, need to pick that up again!), we stopped along a ridge on our drive home up by Grant's Park out on that road to Mt. Hamilton and saw a mountain lion on the next ridge over. A week later, we were hiking in the mountains behind Woodside and a mountain lion crossed our trail about 50 ft in front of us, a little too close for comfort! I sure walked fast after that, looking over my shoulder for at least a mile. What are the odds, two in one week?!! Eeekkk.
We have come across bobcats a couple of times too, one while riding bikes in a park in Livermore, we stopped and watched him for about 5 minutes, that was cool!
