Beginner Gardening: hawaiin good luck plant, 0 by austinsgamma

I received this plant about three years ago. This year it has gotten long branches on it with what appear to be individual flower buds. The flowers open in the evening and stay closed during the day. They also have a clear liquid at the base of each flower pod.( a lot of clear liquid, drips everywhere). I am wondering if I need to do anything with these branches or flowers, as this is the first time it has actually bloomed. Also the leaves at the base of the plant are turning yellow and dying. The plant has been very healthy up to this point as it was only about a foot tall when I got it and it has grown to about 5 feet. any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
