Lilies: New lily bed, 0 by yehudith

I bought all those peonies in the co-op. Oh well, "faint heart never won fair maid". Just have to yank up more lawn. Don't like grass anyway. So Sunday I had the kids help me edge a new area between their swing set and the yicky rose garden that was here when we moved in. I don't believe in tilling, so I dumped out the compost pile in the area and covered it with mulch. By fall it'll be nice and wormy. I'm going to rip out the roses. I love roses, but I'm sick of the black spot and this is not the area for them. I'm going to put Moss Roses along the back of the bed (repeat bloomers and do fine in humidity and have an unbelievable fragrance (1862)) then fill in with the lillies and peonies. Here's the bed almost ready. Can't you just see it next spring? And the best part is the Moss Roses will grow tall enough to hide the neighbours monster swing set that dominates the landscape in every direction. It will also add privacy to the seating area under the pines. Now to figure out a way to get everything in the door and planted before he gets home the in the spring " Oh honey look, they were right, they do multiply over the winter"!
