I say some flowering plant, because as soon as we moved in, the bunnies had made quick work of it. The second year, I put some fig Ivy down and some sweet potato vine. The salvia came back, and it looked wonderful. The third year, we did some of the "pink variagated" sweet potato vine and I really didn't like it. Over the winter, I buried a couple hundred daffodil bulbs between the two planter areas So we went back to the chartreuse SPV and put some more salvia, the daffodils came up, it was wonderful but in the interim, we came about this wonderful black lab. Apparently, the SPV screams "poop here, poop here" and thus, the kids - whilst swimming - named that area "death valley" and avoided it like the plague. So we are now to year five and I would like something nice to put there. We have fenced in the area, and those stragglers that get through are generally brought to the back door - still alive - by Enzo, our wonderful black lab. Tidal wave petunias? Salvia again? - Any idea would help. Keep in mind, the daffodil bulbs are still down there, and I would like to disturb them as little as possible. The pansies will get pulled, and the area has quite good drainage, despite it being "concrete locked". Thanks in advance. WJ (oh, if you have something in your own yard that you think would be nice in mine, I will be happy to gaze upon the snapshot you take and place in this thread :) |
