I swap back and forth between my Kodak P850 (5.1 megapixels but 12x optical with 3.3x digital enhancement for a total zoom of 39.6x) and my Kodak P712 (7.1 megapixels with 12x optical and 5x digital enhancement for a total zoom of 60x). Makes it possible to capture birds in motion such as the attached photo of an "ice skating" coot on Herman's Lake in the Wilbur D. May Arboretum area of Rancho San Rafael near downtown Reno Nevada. The coot had just landed on the ice covered lake and was heading towards a gathering of other coots and ducks feeding some distance away. |
