He has a outdoor bed that consist of almost 3 to 4 feet of pure compost. He grew this in one season from March to late July August. My plant was around 7 feet tall with leaves just a bit smaller. It seems he had his plant in a more wind protected area and was able to get a bit more size. I think growing plants in a valley like area were wind is not common the plant can spend more energy on producing larger leaves rather than thickening up those stems.
