Do any of you develop special relationships with individual birds? It sounds like you do tigerlily. There are individual birds that visit my feeders daily that I have grown to love. A couple of Verdin, a Pyrrhuloxia I've named Pete and a Curved-bill Thrasher named Sam. These are birds that stay very close and even fly over within a foot or so of me when I am outdoors. They know I'm refilling feeders and their water dishes.
I am extremely fond of this bird, a Say's Phoebe - Sayornis saya, I guess because it trusts me so even though it eats insects and not the food I put out. It lands in a nearby shrub very early in the mornings and watches and 'talks' as I do my chores and it is often one of the last birds I see in the evenings.
