The advice I received from this forum said to just be patient before putting in fish, and they will do just fine with the rock. The pond itself will kill some of the bacteria, but will support the beneficial bacteria. My worst problem the first year was the ALGEA!! In fact, azreno, you were the one to advice the UV filters, and the second year was a dream - hardly any maintenance needed at all! Dax
