Kaelkitty wrote: I have just dug these winter growing Arums and thought you guys might be interested in my history with this species. I planted 1 tuber in April 2005 which was about 5cm/2in across. It didn't flower but at the end of that season I dug up three tubers. Goody, I thought to myself. I replanted those in 2006 still no flower, but then I dug up 1 large tuber - about 7cm/2.5in across and a dozen smaller ones. Fine, I think; I must be doing something right! So those got replanted in a 200mm/8in pot in April this year and I wait with bated breath. Still no flower! LOTS of leaves, no flower - What is going on under that dirt? Well now I know. Here is my harvest from last weekend. The big tuber is a MONSTER, well over 10cm/4in across, and over 8cm/3in deep. The next biggest is about the size of the one I started with, and you can see how many little ones there are. Next year I think the big guy gets a pot of his own, surely it has to flower now! |
