All this joy for spring and summer, its possible it may all end for me in a few weeks already! My Father rang me last night, with a proposition from his youngest brother. He would like me to come stay with him over the summer months and be a (paid) live-in nanny to his two young children, instead of spending the summer holidays working in a restaurant or nursery (Im still at university, final year next year). My uncle lives in Germany! So I might just be sharing your winter blues before long. And a much colder winter than Im used to.
My first thought was "what about my garden" I dont think I can expect my flatmate to give my 100 tomato plants and 40 pepper plants, (and everything else!) the due care they deserve, for three whole months. A bit of water every now and then will probably be the extent of it. Im so torn! Ive put so much effort into starting all my plants from seed, preparing the soil, planning the whole years crop rotations etc. Would hate to come home to a bunch of shrivelled plants (my precious plants!) sprawing along the ground amongs the weeds.... aaarrrrh what a nightmare for an organised and passionate gardener like me! I have two weeks to decide... and im sitting my final exams this week too. The garden calls.... wish the books could yell louder. Mmm. Back to my work.

Heres another picture of Russell, my childhood home town. Mum still lives there. Russell is quite special, it was the first landing place and Brittish settlement, back in the late 1700s. Also NZ's first capital "city" (its a tiny village, full of historic buildings) so its a bit of a tourist attraction, even to New Zealanders. Lovely.
