I sent you seeds from my Ukigumo last winter. The seeds came from a sealed commercial pack of Ukigumo I bought from komeri on ebay. IIIRC,some were open pollinated and maybe one seed was from a hand tied bloom. Did you get someone to grow them or are they still tucked away in your seed storage? If you sent them to someone to grow this year I`d like to know how they came out.

Beth, Now,about the color. Pictures can make flowers look a little lighter or darker depending on the light they are in and the camera settings. You cannot make definitive decisions on a flower`s color with just pictures different people took on different days with different cameras.

This picture shows the Ukigumo on the right on a cloudy day. The Ukigumo on the left is in bright sunlight and has more white of the progressing blizzard pattern so you cannot see all the striping. Looking at these pictures I do not see a difference that would denote a change in the flowers genetic make up.These are the exact same kind of vines taken on different days in different kinds of light.

Pictures are not totally definitive because flowers can look lighter or darker on different days like sunny or cloudy and with different kinds of cameras that are used.

Beth, did your seed come from a hand tied pod or a open pollinated pod?

This is why I plan on growing flowers for a while and hand tying the pods before trading. It is the only to be sure the cultivar will continue to come true (within a reasonable range of of variations of course) from seeds.
