nolafwug wrote: Hello! This is my first time on this forum. I live in Southeast Louisiana and I found this insect this morning sitting on my Acalypha wilkesiana. I almost pulled it off as it looked like a dead leaf then I thought I saw eyes. I prodded it gently with a stick and saw legs! It didn't fly away through all this so I snapped some pictures. I don't think it's a moth due to the shovel head but I'm uncertain. Any help would be appreciated! Here are some more images: http://www.rowanbrite.com/images/moth1.jpg http://www.rowanbrite.com/images/moth2.jpg I am going to mark this as solved - looks like I mistook the tail for the head - Doh! This is a Mournful Sphinx Moth (Enyo lugubris). Thanks!!! This message was edited Oct 16, 2007 10:29 AM |
