Hi Ruby, It's nice to talk to a fellow Virginian. I have traveled through Crozet quite a bit in my life. I attended Virginia Tech, hike frequently in the George Washington National Forest, and have a son who just started his freshman year at Roanoke College. We grew eight different types of lantana this year and the red varieties have definitely been a big hit with the butterflies. Here is a list of few butterflies we've been able to identify:
Zebra Swallowtails - Blue and White
Spicebush Swallow tail
Eastern Black
Buckeye
Lunar Moth
Viceroy
Cloudless Giant Sulphur
Hummingbird Moth
