But bromeliads are a very old love. My first real crush I remember was on bromeliads over 30 years ago. A lady that ran a little nursery had some that mesmerized me and she had me join the bromeliad society all those years ago. I find I continue to enjoy the beauty of my old loves while I learn to appreciate new ones. My newest love are some succulents. I do not even know the name yet but have noticed 4 different ones now in 4 designs in the last couple of weeks. My pattern is I start to notice a plant, and over usually 1 to 2 years I get more and more intrigued and then one day I see one for a good price that is a beauty and as I reach for this first one I know I am a goner. I have followed this pattern with succulents in general, gravitating towards euphorbias but these concentric ones have caught me hard and fast. One to the gut or rather the heart. Isn't pot culture such fun? You can have succulents right next to fancy hibiscus next to bromeliads. Isn't life grand? I saw this in the Huntington's succulent greenhouse. Tell me it does not capture your interest? |
