The seeds were from a commercial packet sold by Northrup King/Plantation Products Inc., Norton, MA under the "Fredonia" label. The picture on the packet is solid red corolla flowers. The species is not identified on the packet. I always thought Scarlett O'Hara was I. purpurea, but the leaves of this one I am growing do not have that nice heart-shaped leaf I associate with I. purpurea. Then I looked in the PlantFiles and the cultivar is placed under I. nil which is what the leaf shape appears to be.
