It is a shrub here, but, may be tree like over time. Much different plant than alata. Shorter, grows slower, blooms twice a year, doesn't attract ants like alata (so yellow butterfly larve can munch on the leaves and grow to adults), more tolerant of cool weather, just a better cassia for sub tropical climates. I don't know much about its range or where it comes from, other than it's from Australia. I am not sure if it is root hardy like alata is (in your zone). The bees found the flowers on this cycle of flowering so I have 3 seed pods, so far. I hope to have some to trade and I would really like to grow more of it.
