In Japan we call praying mantis "Kama Keri Mushi" . Mushi is insect in Japanese and the Kama Keri is the insect's hook like claw on one of its arms for prey and eating. I found many of these insects lurking in my morning glory garden last year.

We have a simular looking insect and it is called Nana Fushi that looks like your walking stick. Both are interesting.
