I followed them by listening for their calls and found them feeding on the flowers of a tall Eucalyptus tree a couple of hundred yards up the road from us. These are nectar feeding birds and are often found around flowering Eucalypts. Here is the only picture I have, taken back in 1983 in Tasmania feeding on the Red-flowering Gum (Corymbia ficifolia): |
