Watching them grow up is really a thrill. I just wish they didn't get so big. You are smart to try different ways. Some just work so much better than other ways for some people. I am a rockwool lover myself. Oh Gordon, no you do not have to peel. I am a peeler though. Ever since Susie first showed me how, I peel. LOL. Also I use rockwool so the seeds unpeeled do not really fit in the holes. I also make my own holes in the rockwool so I can plant up to 4 times the seeds so unpeeled would never fit then. I had a bad time peeling the top pod seeds though. They were so soft from being immature that they would break open too easily and be ruined. Here is one of the small tupperwears I did last night. Already I have a bunch germinating. YEA!!!! I slipped it out of its plastic bag for the shot. I usually try not to open them ever till they are ready to be potted up because of germs but I was so shocked to see them already germinating in about 16 hours. Edited to add, you can see I didn't peel them clean like I usually do with mature seeds. They were just too fragile to get the cork totally off them. See how white the seed is inside the cork? Fresh, fresh seed is white and the seed gets darker as it ages. This message was edited Jan 11, 2007 7:32 PM |
