I ran across an incredible looking plant a while back while reading Shocking Beauty by Thomas Hobbs. I think it would be so great for your border there. I couldn't capture the rich mahogany red the plant is but you can see it makes quite a statement. It would add such rich color and texture. I wish I had a place for it but you could fit it in and send me pictures. LOL
