duckmother wrote: What lovely birds! I wish we had incas. A couple of years ago, a lady called and told hubby that she had 2 baby ducks, in her backyard and they had been in the same place, all day. When hubby saw the little loves, he knew that they were not ducks. But, he brought them home anyway. The poor things were scratched all over and both had broken legs and flies had already placed eggs on them. We figure that they fell out of their nest and got the injuries on the way down the tree. After some major cleaning and medical care, these little guys took to us very quickly. Their names are Lovely and Dovely...really original LOL Dovely left home as soon as she could fly but Lovely stayed for 6 months. They still visit everyday and have had several nests. They are Eurasian Collared Doves. They are larger and more gray than Mourning Doves and have a different call. They are similar to Turtle doves except larger. You can compare him to the Mourning in the seed dish. Kim This is Lovely. Dovely flew away as soon as she saw me. |
