Tropicals & Tender Perennials: New to Broms, 0 by azrobin

I received this Brom as a gift for my birthday in August. Apparently, I didn't provide it enough light and gave it regular water instead of purified water for about 2 months. I recently put it in front of my kitchen window and it's growing upward but I'm afraid of what it may look like a month from now. Will the wilted, brown leaves regain any color at all? And, what species do I have?

I typically "mostly" follow the Southwest Forum but I thought I'd ask the experts on this one.
