Keyring wrote: 27. greenhouse weed Diastema vexans I've been told that this is a weed in greenhouses..... It likes humidity, and is usually compact but can get tall and weedy. The flowers are tiny but have adorable splotches of color on each petal. I grew mine from seed. It developed rhizomes and bloomed in its first growing season inside a plastic box. It then went dormant and is now in its second round. So far this summer, I've kept it in the open and the normal humidity here (which is slightly higher than most homes because I don't like AC very much) has been enough. It hasn't flowered yet this year, so I'll upload a boring photo of the foliage. For the flowers, see http://gesneriads.ca/diaste12.htm I think they are cuter - almost cuter than Chirita tamiana. (But I hear the foliage can get a bit bigger.) |
