So I got the shovel and put sand (with the oil in it) in the hole on the inside of the shed.

So far, 24 hours + later, the critter hasn't seen fit to break the oil barrier.

I left the outside hole clear so if he wanted to leave, he was welcome to do so.

This wasn't the critter, but another one that has taken some rest in my pumphouse sanctuary.
