Glad you guys like it....

Kayellen: My woodland garden might look all lush and verdant right now, but come winter, the only things that will be green are the Bamboos, Cedar trees, hollies (I have two american hollies and a blue boy and blue girl holly), Mahonias, Palms (if they are as hardy as advertised), and Cordyline australis, Aspidistras and Rhodeas (until temps drop below 0 degrees, at least)...... I.e. all the stuff people normally associate with tropical climates!

As a matter of fact, here's a pic of my Oregon Grape Hollies, Two of my Cordyline australis, and my Hardy sugar cane.... to give an Idea of orientation, these are located E of the Bamboo grove, and the Needle palms and Yellow Banana are immediately to the Right of the Hardy sugar cane (and the Sabal minor 'Mc Curtain's and Home Depot Musa basjoos are to the right of them, and they are in a line along the edge of the Bamboo grove. Also growing in amongst the bamboo grove is a grove of wild Black and Choke Cherry trees. I'd originally planted the bamboo in hopes that it could shade out the Japanese honeysuckle and multiflora roses that threatened to choke out the cherries, and the bamboo has performed admirably in that capacity; It's killed at least 5 multiflora rose bushes, and shaded out about 80% of the honeysuckle attempting to re-grow after my crusade to eliminate the vines before they killed the cherry trees.... Unfortunately, I still ended up losing about 6 Cherry trees to the pernicious weed.
