So I grew them on and enjoyed lots of blooms Anywho, I took the pots indoors and nursed them through the winter, trying to keep them dormant by witholding water, but still having to water them as they weren't cool enough to completely rest and the light they were in was VERY poor. I was afraid they'd tire themselves out by spring, but they made it. So I took them out again and even made a few cuttings of one. I haven't ID'd it, but it opens with a light rosy-pink halo around a white throat and matures to deep rose with the halo going deeper toward the throat. The other has variegated foliage and blooms open near white and mature to deep gold. Couldn't get any cuttings of that one to strike. :-( ) So, last winter I didn't have the space to bring them in, I had two of the rose one and one of the gold. I said goodbye and grieved through the winter. Well, this spring, whilst watering the yard, I watered the pots with the brown stems of my brugs and---shock and delight----one of each kind had survived!!! Absolutely no care or protection at all. We had lots of temps in the 20sF too. So I just started lovin' 'em up with care and finally got them in the ground. I'll be mulching them deep this fall! |
