Plantcrazii wrote: Thanks everyone. So far I have had pretty good luck with them. I think that some plants just don't like them but most I've tried do. I think my biggest problem is wanting to add water every time the outside pot gets low. So I try not to over water so that the plants don't stay wet too much. I like these a lot better than the other ones I was using. I am still using the older ones but I do not like them as well. I think both pots are way too deep and the violets just don't like that. But these new ones are squatty and I think the violets like them much better. One other problem may be in the fact of just adding water every time they need it. I have noticed the water left in the bottom of the pot gets pretty yucky looking. So I think it is important to wash this pot (the outside pot) out maybe once a month. And at that time it is probably a good time to water from the top like Allison said to get rid of the build-up of salt. I would like to eventually replace the 4 that are too deep with 4 new ones when I get the money. I am also trying an experiment using the Watermaid on two of my violets. I put the two plants on them a couple of days ago and so far they are doing well. Here is a picture of Rainbow's Limelight on one of them. This was taken two days ago and today she is starting to really open up. I can't wait to see her in full bloom. Jesse |
