I'm pretty sure they are part of the root system, but not 100% sure. Have y'all seen anything like this before? If so, what's the name of the plant? And does it mean mine is still alive altho I see no leaf growth.

Or are these "bulbs" actually eggs of something. They're firmly attached to the roots. They look familiar, so I really think they're part of the plant, but what plant? Any ideas?
