I had an adventure with identifying a tree that came to me as Cornus florida, then tried on Cornus kousa satomi for size, and finally settled on Cotoneaster bullatus (syn rehderi). Great fun! I have about 2,000 seeds on offer, and I took cuttings 2 days ago for more fun..... This shrub is doing so well here (zone 5a) that I will encourage ALL to try it - cherry red fruit starting in October. I am known in Portugal Cove as the Flower Man a/c doing church flowers for five years. The hort society think of me as the Dahlia man 'cause I am a Dahlia nut. I have an ebay Nikon D100 camera to learn now too......... (It can do PURPLE!) For you folks, it is important that you know that I have grown a lot of stuff over the years from seed. I got started with my mother's dahlia clumps at about age 12.......... even knew a fair bit at 20 for a Spring job at then Woolco........ selling the plants/shrubbery. When I saw what could grow here in Newfoundland at a show, I was totally inspired/challenged to grow plants to see how they performed here. A Strelitzia regina is a bit big for the house.......
