ErickMN wrote: Hello All. These are my first, and only, Brugmansias. I have four of them. I received them as seedlings last fall with the understanding that they were Rosamond X Ecuador Pink. Although I am barely a novice at this hobby, I sort of expected them to bloom some shade of pink someday. I potted them up immediately, and, with a great deal of effort and adventure, managed to get them all through the Minnesota winter. They spent the summer in my south-facing garden and grew like weeds. They are now all about six feet tall. Unfortunately, they didn't start to Y and produce buds until too late in the season for them to bloom. I recently carted them all back inside and placed them on my sun porch. To my delight, one of them stayed in blooming mode and bloomed for the first time yesterday. I've attached a picture, which also shows the next bud to bloom. While the flowers are lovely, have a fabulous fragrance (particularly noticable at night), and are a joy simply because all I and these plants have been through together...I still sorta feel like I bought a ticket to Phoenix and got off the bus in Memphis. Unless I am missing something here, I just can't believe that these plants are the cross I expected. I would welcome any thoughts anyone might have on just what it is I am growing here. Thank you. Erick P.S. Thanks to the generosity of several Dave's Garden members, I now have a number of cuttings of different Brug varieties started for next year! |
