I also took a stroll out in the yard. It rained last night so the garden is starting out fresh and cool. I think it must have rained hard (although I never heard a thing, no insomnia for me last night). Some of the 4 o'clocks were bent over.

I just went over to check some photos I took last August of this back yard, just before I moved in. The area along the back fence was over grown with wild vines and ancient ugly asparagus fern. I spent a lot of time pulling that thorny fern up, but certainly couldn't get the miles and miles of root systems eradicated and 3 bottles of Roundup couldn't kill that stuff. So I decided Sweet Potato vine would grow there and hopefully take over. That worked for the view but the nasty ferns still grew. So against advice from many, I planted 4 o'clock seeds, then I got some roots at the Jax roundup for other colors. Although in the end I find I only have white and pink flowers, I think the 2 plant types have done their job. The pathway between the vines and my bench trellis is getting overgrown, and so is the asparagus fern. I'm not sure how much longer I should let this go on before I start the next project of eradicating tater vines and 4 o'clocks. :^))))

It's not in my nature to have a neat and organized garden, so I don't even try.
