Shade Gardening: Problem area-wet shade, Please help, 0 by Shadyfolks

Here is a picture of what we did yesterday after a few hours of work. It's a path that leads to no where.The stepping stones are sitting on on top of the muck with gravel underneath them and we filled in around with topsoil and planted Astilbe and Ligularia. It was a quick and easy answer to the worst part of this area. The Astilbe I planted in this area last fall are setting up buds so we know the new ones will be happy here too. There is still an area that will be left for planting whenever I find other things to fill it with. The Hosta and pachasandra (spelling?) have been there for years. There is an Itea bush that I stuck in last fall and it is blooming! There is also a Clethra bush off to one side and it is living, I don't recall it ever blooming. At least it looks better than it did two days ago. We laugh, it wasn't on the list of things to get done and here we are doing it.
