Herbs: I've killed my peppermint!, 0 by redbelly

I have somehow managed to kill my peppermint. I ordered this guy online and it arrived healthy. I let it sit indoors under natural light flourescents in the original 2" pot for several weeks. I then replanted in this 6" pot. It seemed ok for another week or so then began to shrivel. The leaves actually appear to be dry but the soil is damp (see picture). I think this guy might be a loss. But does anyone have any thoughts on what I did wrong. I feel like the anti-green thumb here. I killed what should grow like a weed with my tender touch. Thanks.
