A couple of years ago a single mom had a fire in her van (new fuel lines first thing when you acquire a VW) The VW community rebuilt one for her in just a few weeks. As a gift.

Just wonderful people - and cars. and vans. and things. I'll be driving my 71 hippymobile (my kiddos name for it) till the day I drop. Has been from AK to Panama 3 times and everywhere inbetween. Square yuppie kids you know.

Best thing of all is that you can fix most things yourself. No computer to worry about. No huge repair bills. parts easy to find.
