Kaida317 wrote: I\'ve been trying my hand at water propagation lately. A local nursery let me take the two on the right home after they were found on the ground. They perked back up after a few days in water, but weren\'t growing roots even 2 weeks later. About that time I received a few more cuttings of a different variety, which took off quickly, so I put them all in the same jar as I\'ve read this can trigger root growth on stubborn cuttings. It worked - but within the last 2 days I noticed they all started to grow a LOT of roots ABOVE the water line, which is kept about at the red line. I figure I need to pot them up quick; do I stick only the part that\'s been in the water in the soil, or up to the bottom set of leaves? or cut off the part that\'s been in water that has shorter roots, and put the longer roots in soil? I\'m worried about rot if I put the whole stem in soil. I\'ve mostly dealt with succulents prior to this, these are my first water props and my first coleus and I don\'t want to kill them with a rookie mistake! |
